"Uncle Dumpster's Drawers"

Recycled wooden drawers, plaster of paris, discarded electronic and tool parts, color parrafin wax. © 1997 Nikulaus Paul @ MuseMart, collection Peter Robinson.

This is a metaphoric piece, a sort of time capsule. It remarks on the obsolesence of engineering and technology, and the complexity of small forms easily lost in a drawer of a professor, someone's graying uncle. The drawers are waxed so as not to squeak with the secret message of passing time. Maybe one day we will have forgotten what these things were used for. Piece comes with original writing. I reserve the exhibition rights and/or graphic reproduction rights. Each of these four sculptures has a recently added oil painting done on the back side.

21 1/4" wide x 23 1/4" tall x 4 1/2" deep, 4 drawers, approx. 20 lbs. each, drawers will not be separated.

Uncle Dumpster's Drawers

One day, Uncle Dumpster went to his utility drawers for a certain resistor
only to find they had become stationary with age.
It had actually become something different, part of a display....art....
a fossil stuck in a drawer in a workshop under glass.
Does the mind grow museum grey with time?
Is the mind the machine that creates these things,
and does it become antiquated like stuck drawers?
Waxed to slide through history forever....
Ideas are stuck in the wax of the collective by-product of the past.
Only Uncle Dumpster knows what those things were for,
and they've hauled him away.
Grey professors carry all the weight of thoughts.
Leave them in Uncle Dumpster's Drawers.

"Organic Mind"

Pastel on paper and parchement.
© 1995 Nikulaus Paul @ MuseMart, collection Peter Robinson.

This is a very large piece, executed on heavy archival art paper with a layer of onion skin parchement over original surface. The final image is drawn in Rembrandt soft pastels and fixed with archival fixative. Floated on a 5' x 10' wooden frame.

I worked on the piece over a period of ten years. It is very autobiographical of my growth towards newer directions of style. This piece is "floated" to show off its rough edges. I was desiring to achieve an abstract and organic Art Nouveau feel, with modern Cubist line elements. I reserve the exhibition rights and/or graphic reproduction rights. For overseas shipping, call us for possible purchasing and shipping arrangements.

5' 6" wide x 8' 2" tall, frame width 2", approx. 200 lbs.

Images Rendered in the Fine Art of Painting

There is a brazen, radiant and forever-like quality about oil colors that gives such appeal to art lovers. It also has a fine-crafted elegance that carries through the ages. That is the art of painting with glazes and colors, sensual and magic. Depth-defying and boundlessly suspended in layers of rare and earthy pigments, perfect images form themselves with great learned mastery, or immediate intensity... with untold hours of refinement and dedication. Strokes of creamy color in a texture play blend or oppose, stiff and blunt or delicate and undetectable in dimension. Seemingly three dimensional versions of possible realities are completely open to the viewer's interpretation. Softness can be painted in oils or hardness achieved from the impasto technique... Texture and stroke direction work with natural light. The feeling of a painting can stir emotions and set ablaze the light in your mind. Art can bring the realization of every possibility...It is everything your mind can project and muster up. Don't let the pretense of fashion deter your joy in painting your heart's images and feelings.
